About the Center for Language and Culture Learning (CLCL)

Located in Phillips Hall, the Center of Language and Culture Learning serves as a vibrant multilingual and multicultural hub for students, faculty, and the wider community. Center facilities include spaces for group study, hanging out, video-production, podcasting, and more.

Our supplemental instruction program in the twelve languages taught in the Division of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures seeks to advance the University’s mission to “prepare students for success and fulfillment in an increasingly diverse and global environment." For more information about our game-based approach to language learning and individualized tutoring services, please visit https://clcl.uiowa.edu/tutoring

Students can also access resources to learn languages not taught in the Division through the Directed Independent Language Study (DiLS) program. For more information, check out our resources in 70 less commonly taught languages and email dwllc-clcl@uiowa.edu for more information on how to get paired with a conversation partner.
