Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a free resource that helps you figure out how to be successful in your course. You’ll meet with a fellow student (the SI Leader) who has done well in the course/subject area. The SI Leader will facilitate activities to help you better understand the course material and how to study more effectively. You will compare notes with other students, get organized, and predict and prepare for test questions. The SI Leader attends all class lectures and takes notes and is working with the professor, so you can be sure that they know what’s going on in your class . The sessions are informal, and you can attend as many sessions as you like.

SI sessions will be offered in-person in the Academic Resource Center (ARC) on the second floor of the Main Library for the Spring 2026 semester, except for the following courses, which are offered in the location noted below:

Sessions begin on Sunday, January 25, 2026 and go through Friday, May 8, 2026. There will be no sessions during spring break (Sunday, March 15 - Sunday, March 22) or during finals week (Sunday, May 10 - Friday, May 15). The full SI session schedule can be downloaded below! SI session days & times for individual courses can be found on each course's SI page within Tutor Iowa (see links below).
